Empowerment Summer Camps
3-month summer program designed to enlist, enable, and grow the leadership of high school students. Fellows will create their own research based upon an issue that is currently impacting youths’ involvement in school.
We seek highly motivated and outgoing youth and parents to join our Census 2020 community engagement team. TTL is launching our canvassing work (knocking on doors and talking with people over the phone) and we need your help! As a canvasser, you will conduct door-to-door outreach in the North Minneapolis, Brooklyn Park, and Brooklyn Center areas, participate in phone banking. Individuals will also engage the public on the issues, laws, and policies impacting them in their community, and inform community members about Transformation Through Literacy programming and services. This is a strictly non-partisan effort to reach out to under-counted and historically disenfranchised communities.
The summer Empowerment Camps, are 3 month long summer camps for 4th to 6th graders. These camps are culturally tailored for African Diaspora students. Students learn with an infused curriculum, one that is more inclusive to connections of African descent. We encourage senior high students, and college students to facilitate these camps. Program runs June to August.
