Frankie J. (K-II)

 Frankie was one of the featured graduates after being promoted to K-II. This is Frankie's 2nd year of scholarship award, due to his excellent academic progress and financial need.

Hawa was promoted to the 2nd grade after having an excellent school year in 2017-2018. This is Hawa's 2nd year of scholarship award, due to her  academic progress and financial need.

Caroline K. (2nd Grade)

Caroline was promoted to the 2nd grade after having an excellent school year in 2017-2018. This is Caroline's 2nd year of scholarship award, due to her  academic progress and financial need.

 Mama K. had the highest GPA of the graduating 1st graders.  She was double promoted from K-I to the 1st grade after the first semester of the 2017-2018 year

Charlyn B. (3rd Grade)

 Charlyn was promoted to the 3rd grade after having an excellent school year in 2017-2018. This is Charlyn's 2nd year of scholarship award, due to her academic progress and financial need.

Teta is very serious student who lives with her single father and two other siblings. Her father retired after being attacked by armed robbers who cut off his fingers. As a result of the attack the father struggles to meet the daily needs of the family.

Abigail was promoted to the 5th grade after having an excellent school year in 2017-2018. This is Abigail's 2nd year of scholarship award, due to her academic progress and financial need.

Darius H. (6th Grade)

Darius was promoted to the 6th grade after having an excellent school year in 2017-2018. This is Darius's 2nd year of scholarship award, due to his academic progress and financial need.

Rebecca S. (6th Grade)

Rebecca is one of eight siblings currently being raised by her grandfather. Her parents passed away as casualties of the Ebola crisis. She excels academically despite the challenges faced.

Amos was promoted to the 7th grade after having an excellent school year in 2017-2018. This is Amos 2nd year of scholarship award, due to his academic progress and financial need.

Afinju was promoted from pre-school to K-I. His parents struggle financially because his mother lost her job and  his father sells fried eggs and bread  - which barely covers expenses.

Favor S. (2nd Grade)

Favor graduated from K-II, and was promoted to the 1st grade after the first semester.  She had the 2nd highest GPA in the first grade for the 2017/2018 academic year. Favor currently lives with her father, a photographer who struggles financially to cover school fees for Favor and her siblings that attend Future Leaders Prep Academy.

Narhe K. (2nd Grade)

Narhe is a solid student with excellent behavior. She currently lives with her mother, a single parent who struggles to pay tuition for Narhe and her sibling.

Nathaline H. (2nd Grade)

 Nathaline was  promoted to the 1st grade after the first semester. She had the third highest GPA in the first grade for the 2017/2018 academic year. Currently lives with her mother due to her parents’ separation. Her mother sells cold water for a living and is experiencing extreme hardship in making ends meet. 

Allen D. (3rd Grade)

Allen was promoted to the 3rd grade due to excellent grades in the 2017-2018 year.  This is Allen's 1st year of scholarship award, due to his academic progress and financial need

 Mitchell was promoted to the 4th grade due to excellent grades in the 2017-2018 year.  This is Mitchell's 1st year of scholarship award, due to his academic progress and financial need

Frankie J. (K-I)

Frankie is the child of a single mother - his father left the home while he was an infant, leaving the mother struggling to raise him and pay for his education. Liberia's child support laws face steep challenges enforcing parental support particularly where unemployment is at 80%. The mother has been diligently seeking full-time steady income and continues to look for ways to provide educational opportunities for Frankie.

One of three siblings currently attending Future Leaders Preparatory. Hawa's mother sells cans and iron in order to make ends meet. During the Ebola Crisis, Hawa’s father left the home, and did not return. Hawa is a recent graduate of the K-II class and her infectious smile lights up the room.

Caroline K. (1st Grade)

A recent graduate of the K-II class, Caroline lives with her grandmother who sells roasted cassava (a Liberian finger food) in order to take care of the needs of the home. The grandmother is taking care of four children, two of which attend Future Leaders. Every year, the grandmother struggles to pay tuition, and always asks for an extension to pay in order to keep the children in school.

Ramatu M. (1st Grade)

Ramatu had the highest average in the school (93.2%). She currently lives with her single mother and aunt who assists with household duties due to her mother’s illness.  Despite these circumstances, Ramatu has been a brilliant student.

Assata P. (1st Grade)

Also a recent graduate of the K-II class. Assata lives with her father who cuts hair for a living, barely making minimal wages. Her father supports his younger sibling who also attends Future Leaders Academy. Paying tuition for two students has been a considerable financial burden for Mr. Passewe.

Charlyn B. (2nd Grade)

In 2016, Charlyn lost her grandfather, who was sole support. She now lives with her grandmother, who is not able to work. Sometimes the grandmother gets a little assistance to buy food for the home, but it is not enough to take care of tuition and other expenses.

Lovetee D. (2nd Grade)

Lovetee, one of 7 siblings is supported by her father who makes a living as a taxi driver to support the family. Taxi drivers barely earn livable wages in Liberia, however Lovetee excels as a student despite her circumstances.

Reubena M. (2nd Grade)

One of 5 siblings, Reubena lives her mother who makes a living selling "small, small, things" (misc. items such as candy, soap, etc). Her father recently lost his job, and the mother is finding it increasingly difficult to tend to the financial needs of the family.

Romeo C. (3rd Grade)

Romeo, one of two siblings attending Future Leaders, lives with his father supports his family as a barber. Due to the economic downturn, his father has been struggling financially to pay the tuition for both of his children for this academic year.

Jacob D. (3rd Grade)

Jacob is one of four children attending Future Leaders. He has the second highest average in the school (92.3%). His father is handicapped, and is not working, but tries to do some odd jobs to support his family. Jacob's mother is seeking employment as well. 

Izetta G. (3rd Grade)

Izetta's family has six children in the school, and only the father is supporting the home with the little income he earns from his field work. The father was recently sick for about four months where he couldn't walk, and so in order to support the home, the mother had to resort to selling cold water and soft drinks to sustain the family during the father's illness. 

Prosper O. (3rd Grade)

Prosper, one of three siblings attending Future Leaders,  is being raised in a single-parent home. His mother sells used clothes to support the family, barely making ends meet. Many times, Prosper comes to school hungry, but still manages to be positive and excel in class.

Alex C. (4th Grade)

Alex lives in a home with his mother and three siblings. The mother is not working because she is not well, and spends most of her time seeking treatment. His father lost his job, and cannot support the mother and children at tis time. Sometimes the mother’s brother assists in order to help support the family the best way he can help. Alex almost had to drop out of school this past academic year due to financial problems.

Abigail P. (4th Grade)

In a single-parent home with her mother who sells bananas and plantain chips for a living. Her mother was not able to pay tuition for Abigail and she was at risk to miss the entire school year.

Darius H. (5th Grade)

Darius is one of four children. He and his siblings live with their mother who sells soft drinks and cold water to support the family. His father, who is unable to find steady income,  does contract work when it becomes available. If is often  difficult for the family to pay school fees.

Amos B. (6th Grade)

Amos lives with his father and three siblings. His father lost his job last year when the company he worked for moved out of Liberia. During that time, they also lost the home they were living in because there was no way to pay the rent. His father is still in search of a job, but finding it tough to get one. The entire family lives in one room at this time.

Peter G. (6th Grade)

Peter lives with his father, mother, and four siblings. His mother sells "small, small, things" to support the family. The father sometimes gets contracts to iron laundry for people around their home. Through all of their difficulties, Peter has been a good student and the parents have done their best to keep he and his siblings in school with their limited funds.

Tenneh J.(6th Grade)

Tenneh and her two siblings attended Future Leaders this past academic year; however, due to family constraints, Tenneh was not going to attend this year. Tenneh excels academically and had one of the highest overall grade averages in the fifth grade.

Johnny S. (6th Grade)

Johnny's father passed away a few years ago, and since then, he has been living with his grandparents. His grandfather is still trying to earn money to keep this family of twelve going strong. His grandmother also pitches in by selling coal to the neighbors. He was also one of the best students in his class. 

Fulton T. (6th Grade)

Fulton is one of six children in their household. His father is a substitute teacher. With no mother in the home, the father is the sole source of income with a salary of less than $30USD per month. Fulton does his best in school, and is always in attendance.
